Know Proper Travel Photography Rules

Proper Travel Photography Rules for Photographer

To get the high end photos during travelling, you should have known proper photography rules. There are lots of photography tips & tricks that can help you to get the professional images. Have a look at the below mentioned tips and tricks-

1. Wake up early

A travel photographer should not waste his time. He should concentrate on his job. So, it is necessary to go to bed as early as possible and to wake up early also. You should go out to at the very morning to take the morning natural images. If you like to get the image of a sunrise, you must wake up before rising the sun, because the soft, warm, and fresh morning light is pretty much better for photography. To capture the image of the foggy morning, you should leave bed early. Besides, the weather of the morning is very fresh. Take a bit exercise that can help you to stay fit and sound.

2. Fill the frame/ cropping

Always try to capture the image with full frame that means don’t let your photo be captured from a far distance. If it needs, zoom the image and then capture. If you feel it needs to crop, do it also. Do all the possible things to make your image clear and high resolution.

3. Don’t cut off limbs/important parts

Often it is heard that the amateur photographer cannot understand the important part of a photograph. They capture images of the less important things. Sometimes, they cannot take the image with full limbs in case of human imagery. They unwillingly cut the important limbs due to their lack of skill. Again, in the case of nature image, they cannot understand the important parts of the image and they cut those parts. As a result, the image loses the value as they should have. So, try to understand the main part of an image and capture the image with it.

4. Understand the rule of third

Rule of third let your eyes move around the frame. For using this rule, imagine four lines across the frame. The two lines will be horizontally and the other two are vertically that in combined makes nine even square grid. According to the rule of third, always try to place the main object at the connection point of the lines from the right-below. As a result, your eyes get a scope to move around the whole frame and it is eye soothing also. Except the portrait images, the great images follow the rule of third.

5. Know Your exact focus

In photography, the focus is related to the sharpness. The image which is completely clear that means it is in-focus and the image which is blurry that means it is out of focus. Sometimes, we see one object is clear in the foreground and the other objects in the background is blurry. That indicates the clear object is in the focus and the background objects are out of focus. It is something like our mind. What we think in a moment that is in focus and in that time what we left that is out of focus. In our confused mind, we cannot keep anything in focus. Our success is mostly depends on our main focus.

6. Watch the background

It means that the background of your image should be proportionate according to the main object. In case of a single portrait photography, the background should be simple and single color is better. But, in the case of nature image or something like this, you have to be careful to select the background. If there is a contrasting live background, then you need to blur the background to focus the main objects. Actually, the selection of background depends on the beauty of the image. If it looks better with the background, ok, you can capture the image and if it looks bad, avoid the backdrop.

7. Subject Selection

In terms of subject selection, it is said take the images what subject you like. Here, give importance in your own liking. What you love, take the image of that. But, yet if you are confused, the research and look at the current trends of photography. You will get the solution.

8. Reduce Camera Shake

Sometimes great images loss the greatness due to the camera shaking. But, you can reduce up to 0% camera shake by yourself. For this, hold your camera with both of your hands. Keep the camera close to your body as much as possible. If your hands are too much shaky, then use a tripod or monopod to keep your camera. If you don’t get those, you can use a tree or wall to stabilize the camera and thus you can get the great images as you desire.

Travel photography is always fun. If you are a little bit tricky, you will be benefitted much. You can get amusement from both sides by travelling and by capturing stunning photographs. Alongside the travelling, you can have the great images that can increase your name & fame.

The introduction of new technologies in photography has started a whole new era. Digital photography earns a living to thousands of people.

Photography is Not Just Limited to Professional Camera Anymore

Professional Photography Image

Photography has become easier like never before. You don’t need to own a professional DSLR camera in order to capture photos. Your portable gadget is enough for serving the primary purpose. And by primary purpose, it does not mean basic level of photography, rather mobile photography has evolved to be a whole new genre. Gadgets are now designed especially for photography enthusiasts.

Tablet, cellphones, and other portable devices now consist high resolution cameras with different built in features. This makes photography easy and fun. Image are now just a matter of a single click which eventually prompts the visual display on social media.

There are many phone companies who offer great cameras for Selfie, Groupfie, 1080 and 4K video. The main competitors in smartphone industry are – Samsung, iPhone, HTC, LG, Sony, ASUS, Google, Nokia, Xiaomi, Huawei etc. Every year, these brands release new smartphone with exciting updates and extraordinary features.

Apart from smartphone cams, another new trend in photography is the use of action camera. Action cameras are very small simple video recording tool with an option to attach it somewhere in Point of View (POV) mode so that actions of the user is captured. Bikers, cycle stunt riders, adventure lovers, instructors and many others who are passionate about photography use action camera. Some of the popular brands of action camera are – dji Osmo, GoPro, Xiaomi, YiCamera, HT Re, Polaroid, Sony, SJ cam etc. These actions cams have changed the definition of photography and video recording.

Digital SLR (DSLR) is the primary camera of professional photography.  Unlike smartphones, tab, or action cams, DSLR knows when to be professional. Canon and Nikon are the two leading camera manufacturers in the world. They are unbeatable in the photography industry and no other companies can come near to them. Professional photographers and commercial photography companies use these cameras.

Image Editing Software and Effects

Photography has stepped and passed over the conventional barrier with the introduction of image editing software and different types of effects. As trends change, new things replace the existing things in the market. Image editing has become the trend of the new era. It has become an essential part of photography. Whether you are a professional or a part-timer, you hardly can avoid image editing software. Professional photographers use professional image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Fotor, Corel etc. A photographer may need software for different purpose depending on the client and his/her personal needs.

On the other hand, smartphone users mostly edit images using image editing apps. Generally, most of the windows editing software are available in android or IOS version. Also, there are some special dedicated apps for smartphone editing, for example, snapseed, VSCO, Enlight, Touch Retouch etc.

Image Editing Software and Effects

There are some photography apps which have built in editing feature. Take Instagram as an example, where you can edit your photos. The purchase of Instagram by Facebook authority depicts how much popular photography has become in recent times. Instagram has introduced a whole new era of introducing ourselves and expressing our thoughts through photography.

Built in effects and filters are very popular and trendy in recent times. There are some very popular effects and filters that are used frequently by many. Some of the trendy effects and filters are Black and White (B&W), Vintage, Cinematic, Lomo, Bloom, Toy etc. in recent times, it’s rare to find any picture without filters or effect. Although some may argue that filters reduce and hamper the originality of the photo, some would definitely back it up by bringing the photography post processing importance. Whatever the arguments are, most people seem to believe that photo editing enhances the appeal of the photo and makes it look better.

Experiment

Experimenting with the subject, color, light, and theme is the new trend of photography. People have come out from the conventional ‘pose and smile’ concept and bringing new perspective to look at something differently. Perspective photography is the trendiest way to shoot now. It’s hard to find a person who would like perspective photography. This trend has become so popular that people are choosing their specialization in perspective photography. Take the example of bug’s eye view or bird’s eye view– in such cases the photographer looks at the world from a non-human point of view which makes each and every photograph unusual and interesting. Another excellent and newest technique is forced perspective in photography. In forced perspective, photographers capture objects in a way which makes the object look unreal, surreal, unusual, or unearthly. Take the example of picking the tip of the Eifel Tower or the Taj Mahal in your two fingers, or holding the sun in your hand. Even if you didn’t capture these, at some point of your internet browsing, you’ve surely seen these pictures.

Experiment Image From Clipping Path India

Another excellent and newest technique is forced perspective in photography. In forced perspective, photographers capture objects in a way which makes the object look unreal, surreal, unusual, or unearthly. Take the example of picking the tip of the Eifel Tower or the Taj Mahal in your two fingers, or holding the sun in your hand. Even if you didn’t capture these, at some point of your internet browsing, you’ve surely seen these pictures.

Shapes and pattern photography is another popular way which is trending now. Shapes, lines, boxes etc. are some of the common patterns in experimental photography. You don’t need to be a professional photographer or know all the rules to experiment with camera, all you need is just a creative mind and eyes that pay attention to every detail.

These brief points on recent photography trends are just the rough draft. It doesn’t end here. In the world of photography, the sky is not the limit. Exploration will go on, trend will keep changing, and new things will be coming.

Things You Need To Know Before Using Creative Commons Images For Your Blog

Today, many bloggers operate their own blog site to spread their writings, thoughts as well as to promote their creativity. As only textual representation makes a blog boring and unattractive, a blogger may use a relevant image for his/her blog content. But how to collect these blog images and from where?  Many will suggest you that to search in google, download and use those images.

No doubt that they are your well-wishers but it may ruin your entire blog site. Shocked? Let me explain why. Usually, images found in google are copyright protected. It means you can not use those images without the proper permission of the owner of those images. You may think who will care if you use such photos. Let me warn you that you may be sued or fined or both or subjected to other legal procedures from the image owner. The entire incident is enough to bring a vulnerable condition for your blogging career.

In this article, I am going to tell you about an alternative way to use images which are free from copyright claims mentioned above.

Creative Commons (CC)

Creative commons is a USA based non-profit organization which works for expanding the area of creative works of a certain person/ organization for others. This license allows people to use a creative work for their personal usage. The organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public.

Creative Commons (CC) was founded in 2001 by Lawrence Lessig, Hal Abelson, and Eric Eldred with the support of Center for the Public Domain. The founding management team that developed the licenses and built the Creative Commons infrastructure as we know it today included Molly Shaffer Van Houweling, Glenn Otis Brown, Neeru Paharia, and Ben Adida.

Where to Find Creative Commons Licenses

If you go to google for searching creative commons license related topic, you may get confused. So, I am here to help you to find out the right way for creative common images.

Flickr Creative Commons Images

Flickr.com is the one of the easiest sources from where you can collect images under creative commons license. You can find a lot of images under this license which can be used for various usage such as blog image. As all of the images are not licensed under creative commons license, you can take help from some tools which can search only these category photos. Some of the helpful tools are-

Let’s start: Build a clear concept on Creative Commons Licenses

When someone who wants to use an image on a blog post (personal or professional), book cover or eBook, s/he must need to know which image is allowed to use and which is not. Under the each image found in internet i.e Google, Flickr, Pixabay you can see some logo or indications or signs. As these signs have specific meaning. Let’s make it clear.

  • Attribution – It is compulsory

All versions of the Creative Commons licenses require attribution. What does it mean? It says that wherever the image is used, it must be linked back with its original/source image or name of the person. Some put this at the bottom of  blog posts wheres other put it right below the image. Both are correct.

  • No Derivative (ND) – Any kind of alteration of image is prohibited

If there is a Non-Derivative license, it means you cannot change the image. How can an image be changed? For example- one can change an image by using Adobe Photoshop, illustrator or any other image editing software’s. But images under creative commons license can not be edited or changed or manipulated via graphical/ electrical means.

  • Noncommercial (NC) – Restriction on the use for Commercial Purposes

A Non-Commercial license means such images cannot be used for any kind of commercial purposes such as for selling those images on commercial basis for earning money.

  • Share-Alike

This is more of a sub-clause in the license, and means that you also allow your creation to be shared.

Can using a Creative Commons licensed image protect a user  from copyright infringement claim?

The answer to this question is ‘No’, because usually you’ll have no way of knowing whether the person who applied the license to the image was the owner of the copyright in the image or was authorized by the true owner to release it under the selected Creative Commons license.

If someone was to complain that his or her image had been taken by another person and Creative Commons licensed without permission, the simplest solution would be to take the image off your site and replace it with a different image. Theoretically, the true owner could pursue you for copyright infringement but, in the vast, vast majority of cases, that is highly unlikely.

The Drawbacks of using creative common license

There are some problems of using creative common license. For example- Flickr makes it very much easy for users to search images licensed under creative commons. This gives users a good opportunity to use a lot of images for their own purposes. But a major drawback is that an owner of an image can anytime change the license type and it may create a matter of dispute.

So if you are interested in using photos licensed under creative common certificate, you must consider these facts. It will protect you and your blog from unwanted situation.
